Second round of Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions happening at Goa,
Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen, overtook Dhoni to become IPL's costliest players, were bought by Chennai & Bangalore respectively for Rs.7.55 crore each.
On 4th Feb, Shilpa Shetty and her business partner Raj Kundra bought about 12% in IPL’s team - Rajasthan Royals Jaipur for about Rs 80.6 crore. With this deal, the valuation of Rajasthan Royals, which won the maiden IPL tournament in 2008, has more than doubled to around $140 million in about one year since the cricket franchisee was bought at last year’s auction for $67 million. Rajasthan Royals had paid the lowest price in season one of IPL by its owners Emerging Media.
We all desperately need something like IPL, which comes free for us unlike going to the movies. Maybe the IPL will help the healing which is so badly needed right now.
