GM india offers Chevrolet Spark at 2.66 lack only

Call it monsoon discounts or the effect of the rising fuel prices which has impacted demand, most of the major car makers are now trying to lure customers back into the showroom with hefty discounts.

Monsoon is usually a lean period of the car makers as people usually do not buy their cars in the rains and prefer to wait it out for the festival season, which typically follows after the monsoon. This is the cyclical trend of the sector, nothing new here. But what is new this time is that the rising prices of petrol and diesel has now forced companies to kick start the sagging demand, which, as per some dealers, is lower than usual. Maruti’s Alto and Zen Estilo compact cars are now available with a price waver of up to Rs 52,000 while Mahindra Renault Logan discount goes up to Rs 55,000.

General Motors announced a special offer price of Rs 2.66 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for its small car Chevrolet Spark. The car now comes almost Rs 55,000 cheaper than its last year’s launch price of Rs 3.09 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This is the second time the price of Spark has been reduced. The company did not blame this on the season or slowdown of demand, it is giving the “special” price simply because it has managed to improve localization and improve operational efficiencies and that is why it is offering a discounted price! Well, one can surely hand it over to GM for coming with an innovative, albeit hollow sounding explanation!
